A powerful immersive installation of 186 porcelain envelopes and the film She wanders/wonders projected over them.
Davina experienced the ritual, meditative quality of repetitive process with producing the porcelain envelopes for ‘Every Day for a Year’ and the ideas around producing something where each object produced is subtly different as a way of reminding herself that each iteration, each moment can never be the same.
This installation co-curated with Carol Laidler has been shown in three different locations, each installation has given a different experience for the viewer the first at Back Lane West, Cornwall was dark and immersive with the soundtrack played loud. The second at F Block Gallery Bristol was a much lighter space the film imagery became more transient, the soundtrack took on more relevance; there was also additional artwork in the space. The third iteration was at the European Congress of Qualitative Inquiry at KV Leuven, this time the film interacted with the window blinds and the audience could only enter so far into the room because of the envelopes.
