Tether

It is 10 years this month since Chris died, no time and all time – using this as a prompt along with the ongoing collaborative conversation through letter writing I am having with Annabel Pettigrew- MacPherson I am working on a new set of images titled Tether. Thinking about the origins of the word – Late Middle English from Old Norse tjóthr, from a Germanic base meaning ‘fasten’. Does my tie to this place and to him restrict me still or hold me firm?

I am using the two remaining tatters from his favourite shirts I found in a drawer and printing with them over the white-washed A3 digital prints of some of my original photos from the Tying the Threads project. This week I will be printing with them over some A3 digital prints from the polaroids I took in September revisiting the site at Black Rock on the River Severn.
